2026 Club Trip - Opunake
This year’s club trip is booked for us to head to Opunake for the weekend of 25-27 September, staying Friday and Saturday night. Accommodation cost is $120 per person.
There is a maximum of 18 spaces so registration is essential.

July practical - The Great MCC Scavenger Hunt
We present The Great MCC Scavenger Hunt 2026! Meet at the Clocktower in The Square at 3pm on Sunday 26th July (note this is a change in time and location to what was previously advertised).
We’ll put you in teams of 3-4 and give you a list of 12 items to photograph (for example, a photo prominently featuring a duck!). Take photos of as many of the items as you can as a team and submit your entry by posting it to the club current members’ group on Facebook. Then help decide the Peoples’ Choice awards by voting for your favourite entries and images.
Bring a phone or camera to take photos with, and a lively imagination.

March practical - Portraiture
A workshop on Portraiture with Ian Rotherham. 3-5pm at the Awapuni Community Centre - small hall.
Entry to the small hall is at the front of the building.
Ian will discuss lenses, composition and some posing tips.
Bring cameras along as there will be an opportunity at the end of the workshop for some practice.

End of year dinner and assessment evening
Our end of year dinner and awards evening, and December assessment night.
18:00 start for dinner ($50 pp, RSVPs in advance to Debz Dickinson). 19:30 start for those coming for the assessment evening and awards only.
November practical - ICM, Himatangi Beach
An afternoon and evening of ICM, with a BBQ dinner supplied. Please bring a koha, and let us know you’re coming for numbers.
Meet at the carpark with the public toilets near the end of Koputara Road at 4pm. We will be aiming to shoot the sunset, which is around 8:20pm.

Annual club trip - Central Plateau
This year’s club trip is booked for us to head to the Central Plateau for the weekend of 19-21 September, staying Friday and Saturday night at the Forest & Bird Lodge at Whakapapa Village at the base of Mount Ruapehu.
The Lodge is a very well appointed facility with plenty of space with a fully equipped kitchen for us to self cater, modern and warm with plenty of bedrooms and bunkrooms, open plan dining and lounge area, and a large wrap around deck for that all important indoor outdoor flow! Pricing is very reasonable ($80 - $130 depending on numbers). There are plenty of things to do in the area for all photographic interests.
