Club Outings

Field trips with car-pooling are organised during the year. The Committee welcomes ideas for places to visit, whether locally or regionally, for day or weekend trips.
Field trips a fantastic way to get "on the job" tuition from more experienced club members.
Small Prints Board at Manawatu Camera Club
The Small Print Board, a Kiwi institution, is used at the Manawatu Camera Club as a vehicle for members to display some of their recent photos. Members show some of their work which may be modified later as prints to enter in the monthly competitions; others submit witty reminders of club outings; others show work that has interesting points but is perhaps deficient in other respects.
At Manawatu Camera Club, it was realised that one important aspect not covered as well as it could be was that of giving feedback on each print. This is of particular importance for newer members in the club.
A new approach is to notify members that if they would like such feedback to modify their picture or to assist in future photos, they should leave their print on the board at the end of the meeting. These prints are subsequently scanned. At a future meeting, usually a workshop evening, the images are displayed on a screen and members, including the author of the print, are asked to critique the image with the emphasis being on positive guidance.
What about those who are launching into digital photography and who may not print out each image? In future, these members can supply a computer file of a print or email it to the club member responsible for the Small Prints Board.
A further innovation is for a knowledgeable club member to give assistance with digital enhancement of these images.
