I have been taking photos for over 45 years in bursts, separated by bleak years of little activity due to lack of motivation or finances.
August 2004 was a turning point for me as I acquired a digital camera. The next day, I remember wondering what images I should take and who would look at them.
One week later, I joined, for the first time, a camera club, MCC. A great decision! I have discovered a new enthusiasm for photography and I have learnt a lot more about this craft. In the past, I concentrated on family and travel pictures but the digital camera gives me the freedom to take many images while the computer allows me to discard many of them and to massage those I choose to keep.

In the 1960s, I was privileged to work in Tanzania for 6 years. Photography was compulsory, or so it seemed, and was reasonably cheap.

I find that I take many images of reflections. This one was taken at Te Manawa, the local museum which hosted a national display of light and reflections.
Peeling Bark

I did not realise that there was so much variety in the shape of eucalyptus trees and the kind of bark they have.
Wild West Coast

It is relatively easy to get a good but very difficult to get a great landscape photo. I hope I captured a little of the “wow” factor of this scene.
Pilot Launches

Wellington is a wonderful place for photography when the sun is shining, particularly when the object is bright red.
Pelican

This comical character simply rolled his eyes and sat for me as I approached and clicked.
Swimmer

From the beginning, I tried to get the occasional quirky photo.
