Photography has always amazed me, even as a small boy. I never had serious opportunity to try my hand in photography until I came into New Zealand in mid-2004. Within a few months after my arrival here, I bought a Nikon Coolpix 4200 compact. The minute I begun shooting pictures, I realized that this was what I had been really passionate about. I began researching on more serious cameras. Finally I zeroed on Canon EOS-20D as the camera of my choice. In July 2006, I placed an order for a 20D camera with 18-55mm kit lens and a tripod. It took about a month for me to come in terms with technical terms and camera controls.
I was searching the Net for photography lessons available in Palmerston North. In the very first page, I found MCC's website. I shot an email to Richard Brook inquiring about the club. He was kind enough to guide me through. I joined the club and fell in love the moment I stepped into my first meeting. In this very short time, I have learnt many new things. So many others have mentioned it, so it would be repetitive if I mention the excellent support from MCC members. Even now I send my images for critique to Richard and he never loses patience in responding to my never-ending queries.
Some of my Work
Aged Log
I found this fallen tree on a track that leads to Bridal Veil waterfalls (40minutes drive from Hamilton towards Raglan). The atmosphere was like being inside a rain forest. I set my tripod and took this picture with a wide aperture (f/3.6) and a slow shutter speed (1/3).
Fishing at Castle Point

One of my earlier images taken with Nikon Compact. This got published in a regional newspaper in India . I was glad about the final output, since it gave a perspective of this huge rock.
Flower02

Flowers are my favorite subjects. I found this one in bunches at Tauranga beach. The day was overcast. So, I had to manipulate the image with Photoshop Elements a little.
Indian Lamp

This was taken on the eve of Indian festival called Diwali (festival of lights). During this festival, you can find such lighted ritual lamps lined up everywhere in India . Another attraction during this occasion is sweets and firecrackers. I switched of lights in the room, set the aperture at f/6.3 and shutter speed at 1/ 2.
Stream in Forest

This picture was taken from a small wooden bridge in Bridal Veil waterfalls track. Medium aperture (f/16) and a slow shutter speed (2 seconds). I cropped the image to bring out the water flow as main subject.
