I have been taking photos since I was a teenager. I have been lucky enough to travel around Europe and found the camera was a good companion - to both record my experiences and show people some of the wonderful places I had seen. I am now living in NZ and discovering this beautiful part of the World.
I tend to take landscape shots and for some reason don't take many photos of people (apart from my children). I have also been researching my Great Grandfather's role in World War 1 and have taken many shots on the Western Front in France and Belgium .
I still use a Nikon SLR (and have had 3 to date); I am hoping to move into the digital era with a Nikon Digital SLR in the not too distant future.
I simply wish I had more time to travel and take photos.
Some of my Work
George and Windmill
This was a real snap shot - I was waiting for my son George to look at me as he walked towards me; I used a fill in flash and my 80mm zoom lens with a large aperture to get the required depth of field.
Ovillers Cemetery

I was driving along a Somme country road in France when......
Eze Clock Tower

Taken in the small village of Eze on the Cote D'Azure in France on a glorious sunny day using my SLR and Kodak Gold film which always seems to give highlight lovely blue skies. The colours in this part of the world are vibrant and warm; one is spoilt with the photo opportunities that present themselves.
Sheep on a hill

A classic view of the Manawatu region where we now live; the ubiquitous sheep and endless rolling hills were captured here at one of the wind farms near home using an 80mm zoom lens and my Nikon F60.
Chateau D'Isle

Perhaps if I am lucky I can retire to the beautiful old town of Annecy in the Haute Savoie region of France . Again, the scenery and colours are overwhelming and as long as one has film in the camera there is a shot to take. This was taken one autumn morning with a 35mm zoom lens.
Serre Road Cemetery No 1

One of my favourite pictures caught in the early morning on the Somme in France , using a 35mm lens. I added a slight graduation filter effect using Adobe Photoshop and cropped the image to present a panorama. I wish I had more time here to take photographs. It was a perfect day and the light was just right - any later and perhaps it would have been too bright?
Guard's Cemetery

Another glorious day on the Somme ; this time at dusk. Once more I added a slight graduation filter effect using Adobe Photoshop to give the bright blue sky a bit more interest. I stood on a wall to catch this view and used a 50mm zoom at about 1/125 sec.
